Baptism

baptism tab picBaptisms: The first and third Sundays of each month are reserved for baptism. Parents must be active in our parish and attend the required Baptismal Preparation Class. In our parish co-op programming it is offered every month at one of our area churches.  Contact Ms. Carol Wallington Director of Religious Education (DRE) 440-988-2848, ext. 242 DRE@StJosephAmherst.com, to register for the class. Contact our office for more details about registration and other location sites.
NOTE: Letters of Recommendation to act as a sponsor for the Sacrament of Baptism can be issued only to registered and participating parishioners.

 

PRE-BAPTISM CLASSES

Parents preparing for the Baptism of their children. Classes rotate at St. Peter, Lorain and St. Vincent DePaul. Baptism takes place at St. Joseph.

PRE-BAPTISM Preparation Team Volunteers Info

Mission: The Sacrament of Baptism is the foundation of Christian Life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other Sacraments. The Pre-Baptism Preparation Team seeks volunteers to assist in facilitating classes that help parents and godparents prepare for their children’s reception of this holy sacrament. Parents are required to attend classes.

Talent: The desire to assist parents in the formation process prior to baptism.

Time: Classes are held quarterly for one and a half hours.
